Museum of disABILITY to open exhibit on Down Syndrome

The Museum of disABILITY History, 3826 Main St., Eggertsville, will host a grand opening from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday for its newest exhibit, “In Celebration of Down Syndrome.” The display, which will continue through the end of the year, features multimedia installations and Hollywood memorabilia honoring actors with Down syndrome.

The exhibit features photography by Eva Stoijink from her book, “Down’s Upside: A Positive View of Down Syndrome”; “Unspoken Voice,” a collection of works by Bailey Bastine, an artist from East Aurora who has Down syndrome; and panels featuring professionals with Down syndrome in acting and advertising.

Keynote speaker will be David Wright, professor of history at McGill University and author and co-editor of eight books, including “Downs: The History of a Disability.” Admission is free. For more information and to register, call 629-3626.
