The Red Cross has been called to help eight adults after a spreading fire drove them from three homes on Hazelwood Avenue early Friday morning.
The fire began at 267 Hazelwood, east of Bailey Avenue and north of East Delavan Avenue, shortly before 3:30 a.m., according to the Buffalo Fire Department alarm office.
Flames spread to homes on each side, 265 and 271 Hazelwood. All three homes were occupied.
Total damage was estimated at nearly $300,000 in the two-alarm fire.
Damage to 267 Hazelwood was pegged at $120,000, with an additional $5,000 in damage to a vehicle in the driveway.
The home at 265 Hazelwood sustained $75,000 in damage, while damage at 271 Hazelwood was estimated at $95,000.
Investigators are working to pinpoint the cause of the fire.
