Residents who live within the Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda School District have until May 12 to register to vote in the upcoming school board and budget vote on May 17.
To help people register, the Board of Registration is offering help from 2 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday and from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10, in the Administration Building, 1500 Colvin Blvd in the Town of Tonawanda.
Residents do not have to register if they are already registered with the Erie County Board of Elections or have voted within the past four years.
To be eligible to vote in the May 17 school district budget vote and board of education election, voters must be registered to vote at least five days prior to May 17. They must also be U.S. citizens at least 18, residents of the District for at least 30 days prior to May 17, and possess proof of citizenship, age and residency.
The District Clerk may be contacted at 874-8400 ext. 20342 for an absentee ballot application. Those who already receive absentee ballots don’t need to apply. Applications must be received no later than seven days prior to May 17. Absentee ballots must arrive no later than 5 p.m. on May 17.
