NORTH TONAWANDA — A special waste drop off day will be offered by the City of North Tonawanda from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Department of Public Works facility, 758 Erie Ave.
Residents who want to participate must schedule an appointment at www.rethinkyourwaste.com or call Niagara County at 439-7250.
Hazardous waste items such as latex and oil paint, wood stain, automotive fluids, pesticides, household cleaners, driveway sealer, pool and photo chemicals and other household chemicals will be collected.
The drop-off day is designed to give North Tonawanda residents an opportunity to safely and responsibly dispose of hazardous household materials rather than dumping them illegally in a field or a trash can.
The drop-off day is a joint county-municipal effort and is sponsored by state Sen. Robert G. Ortt, R-North Tonawanda, Mayor Arthur G. Pappas and the Niagara County Refuse Disposal District.
