Mother of burn victim who died Sunday asking for public’s help

Tempest Thomas, the mother of the little girl who died two months after she was severely burned in a fire, is asking for the public’s help in raising money for the child’s funeral and burial expenses.

Treasure Brighon, who was 8, died Sunday in Shriners Hospital for Children in Cincinnati, where she was being treated for burns over nearly 90 percent of her body.

Thomas’s fiancé, Demetrius Johnson, died trying to save Treasure’s little brother, DeMetrius Jr., from the fire. The little boy survived.

Treasure’s funeral is Monday in True Bethel Baptist Church on East Ferry Street. Thomas plans to bury her daughter next to Johnson.

Thomas asked anyone willing to donate to use the fundraising site set up at gofundme.com.
