The Buffalo Zoo isn’t the only one with a new attraction: A Sulphur-crested cockatoo has arrived at the Aquarium of Niagara.
Kitty Bird – named because he likes to meow like a cat – has arrived in Niagara Falls by way of a private donor, aquarium officials announced Wednesday.
“Even though you can buy these birds in most pet stores, they’re not ideal house pets,” said Brock Malenke, assistant trainer in marine mammals, in a news release. “Cockatoos often outlive their owners and require a lot of care. Birds like these thrive in an aquarium like ours. He gets a lot of attention from the staff.”
Kitty Bird is acclimating well to his new surroundings and is bonding with his trainers, the aquarium said.
