Beverly E. Olszewski, retired registered nurse enjoyed working in baby clinics

June 12, 1939 – April 19, 2016

Beverly Elaine Olszewski, a retired registered nurse, died April 19 under hospice care in her Pendleton home after a lengthy illness. She was 76.

Born in Jamestown, the former Beverly Russell was a 1957 graduate of Bemus Point High School. She received her nursing degree from the University of Rochester and earned a degree in sociology from the University at Buffalo.

Mrs. Olszewski moved to the Buffalo area in 1960. She was a nurse at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Kenmore Mercy Hospital and the Erie County Health Department for more than 20 years and especially enjoyed working in baby clinics. She retired in 1996.

In retirement, she volunteered for the Amherst Senior Center and the Pendleton Food Pantry.

A 30-year resident of the Willow Ridge neighborhood in Amherst, she moved to Pendleton in 2002. She enjoyed biking and reading.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Walter J.; two sons, Steven and Daniel; a brother, Sherwood Russell; and five grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Zion United Church of Christ, 15 Koenig Circle at Parker Boulevard, Town of Tonawanda.
