NIAGARA FALLS – A Niagara Falls man told police Sunday afternoon that he was sprayed by pepper spray by a man wearing a blue tuxedo.
The 29-year-old victim said he saw the man in the tux harassing an elderly man who had been sitting a bench in the 700 block of 10th Street just after noon on Sunday. He said he tried to help the elderly man, and the suspect pulled out a large can of pepper spray, spraying him in the face. The victim said he called for help because he was unable to see or breathe. He was treated at the scene by the Niagara Falls Fire Department.
A witness told police that he saw the incident from his vehicle. He did not describe an elderly man, but saw the suspect in a blue tuxedo. He said the suspect warned the victim three times to get away and then sprayed him and fled north on 10th Street.
The suspect is described as a thin white male, in his 20s, about 5’9” tall and wearing a blue tuxedo. A search by police failed to locate the suspect.
