MusicalFare production was highly entertaining
I attended the April 20 performance of “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying,” now playing at the MusicalFare Theatre, and could not have enjoyed it more. It was funny, raucous and showed once again it’s not what you know but who you know that may help lead to success.
The newspaper review gave this production 2½ stars, perhaps because it was reviewed on its April 13 opening night jitters, which may have been more evident and slighted the review. But I rated it a solid 4 stars, and I believe the audience agreed, with its rousing laughter and responsive clapping many times. The 16 performers were well cast in their respective roles, which they played perfectly, and worked well together on this small stage.
After the performance, there was a “talk back” session with the cast and it was learned that this production had only four weeks of rehearsal time. It should be noted that the performers have other daytime occupations, so their evening rehearsal time is constrained.
It was a fun night and one that should not be deterred by one critic’s shortsighted view of this great production.
