Maybe you’re the funniest person in your group, but are you the funniest of all Buffalo? Helium Comedy is challenging you to find out, as the club has opened entries for its fourth annual "Buffalo’s Funniest Person" contest.
Open to all Buffalo metro residents, the contest requires each contestant to perform about five to six minutes of original material in the first round, seven to eight minutes in the semi-final round, and nine to 10 minutes in the finals. Contestants earn the right to move on to the next round based on audience feedback, and eventually a team of judges. Entry into the contest is $20, and the winner will take home $1,200.
The contest has become a way for amateur comedians to earn professional credentials. The three past winners – Josh Potter, Rick Matthews and Brian Herberger – have become regular host and feature acts at Helium Comedy Club, all the while opening for some of the biggest names in comedy.
The contest will run from May 31 to June 11. Entry deadline is April 30. For more details and entry registration, visit heliumcomedy.com.
