Stabbing suspect nabbed after fleeing to home two blocks away

A Buffalo man was charged Saturday with stabbing another man in the back, chest and face during a fight.

Paul S. Chapman, 46, fled to a residence on Colorado Avenue following the stabbing, which happened around 11:30 p.m. Saturday inside a home two blocks away on Cornwall Avenue in the East Ferry-Bailey Avenue area.

The victim, Melvin Hames, 52, was taken by ambulance to Erie County Medical Center, where he was treated and released.

Chapman was charged with second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
