NEWFANE – Asha Sanctuary, a nonprofit devoted to rescuing and caring for abandoned farmed animals, is seeking to soon purchase a used tractor and necessary implements to provide timothy, wheat and alfalfa grasses and a rotating pasture for its inhabitants.
An anonymous donor has offered to match current donations 3 to 1, according to Tracy Murphy, Asha founder and president.
The tractor is available for $22,000 and includes a cultivator, brush hog, seeder and manure spreader. Volunteers also hope to create a walking trail deep into Asha’s 27-acre preserved woodlands at 2969 Coomer Road, Newfane, for visitors. The group has raised more than $18,000 to date for its new projects. Donations may be made at: http://www.ashasanctuary.com/donate.html.
