Prince's 'Purple Rain' gets free showing at Riviera Theatre on April 30

The Riviera Theatre in North Tonawanda will host a free showing of "Purple Rain" on April 30, the venue posted on Facebook.

The showing starts at 7 p.m. and no advance tickets will be issued. Admission will be on a first-come, first-served basis. The venue, 67 Webster St., will open about an hour before showtime.

"We invite you to join us in celebrating the life and career of Prince that evening," the venue said.

Prince, a music icon whose film "Purple Rain" was released in 1984, died Thursday at age 57.
