Niagara Hospice seeks volunteers and will offer training from 5 to 9 p.m. April 26.
Hospice volunteers provide companionship and support for patients by visiting them at home, or in a nursing home or assisted living facility. Volunteer activities include conversation and reminiscing; putting together puzzles or playing games; running errands for the family; or simply just holding a hand and listening.
Volunteer positions include patient- and nonpatient-related jobs. The agency is especially in need of volunteers from the Niagara Falls area. The training takes place at the administrative building on the Niagara Hospice campus, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport. Those interested are asked to call 280-0748 for an application and to register. More information and applications are also available at NiagaraHospice.org.
