New York Republican Chairman Edward F. Cox has endorsed Donald Trump for president, reflecting the overwhelming view of registered Republicans following Tuesday’s presidential primary election.
“As a newcomer to elected office, Donald Trump has shown remarkable political skill that has energized Americans who have felt disenfranchised by a government that hasn’t worked for them,” Cox said Thursday. “He has a record of cutting through bureaucratic dysfunction and his message to ‘Make America Great Again’ is exactly what we need after two failed terms of President Obama.”
Trump won 61 of 62 counties in New York on Tuesday over rivals John Kasich and Ted Cruz.
Cox called his neutrality strategy “successful,” because all three contenders felt “welcome” to campaign in the state.
