Roswell Park Cancer Institute has acquired the practice of a West Seneca doctor who specializes in diagnosing and treating cancer and blood disorders, the fifth practice the cancer hospital has acquired since 2013 as part of a growth strategy.
Dr. Isosceles Garbes, a physician in solo practice since 1987, will practice under the name Roswell Park Hematology Oncology Southtowns and remain at 3612 Seneca St. in the town.
A statement from Roswell Park announcing the acquisition said the transaction provides the practice and its patients access to comprehensive medical services, the opportunity to take part in multidisciplinary case review and the chance to receive cutting-edge treatments by participating in clinical trials. The practice’s staff also can receive training through Roswell Park. Garbes will remain affiliated with Catholic Medical Partners.
Over the past three years, in addition to the Southtowns practice, the cancer hospital has acquired two practices in Amherst, one in Niagara Falls and one in Jamestown, all of which now serve as Roswell Park community cancer practices.
