NIAGARA FALLS — Police responding to a larceny in progress found a man carrying a handbag and trying the handles on car doors just after midnight Wednesday in the 2400 block of Woodlawn Avenue.
Police approached the suspect who was identified as Keandre Jones, 21, of 20th Street, and told him to stop. He immediately ran down Woodlawn Avenue. He was apprehended at 24th Street and Forest Avenue after he fell on the sidewalk with several officers in pursuit. Police found the bag he was carrying contained a female identification card, prescription pill jars and loose change, several sets of headphones, cigarettes, a cigar, a hat and more. Police also found a backpack he had dropped which contained eight credit cards and a social security card.
At least three victims have been identified, and they told police no one had permission to enter their vehicles.
Jones was charged with disorderly conduct and multiple counts of criminal possession of stolen property as well as fourth-degree grand larceny.
Police reported larcenies from vehicles on Forest Avenue, Willow Avenue and Woodlawn Avenue which they linked to Jones.
