Repeat drunk driver caught again after running stop sign

A convicted drunk driver who was behind the wheel again without a court-ordered ignition interlock device was arrested again Saturday night after running a stop sign, City of Tonawanda police reported.

William R. Kowarko, 35, of 70th Street in Niagara Falls, was charged with criminal possession of narcotic drugs, aggravated unlicensed operation, driving without an interlock device, driving on a revoked license and running a stop sign after being stopped on State Street near West Maple about 8:45 p.m.

A check on Kowarko’s license revealed three suspensions, police said.

Seven baggies of cocaine weighing 1 gram each were found in Kowarko’s vehicle, according to police. Kowarko was held pending a court appearance.
