Lauren Hall will be leaving Channel 4 News for a job with Pegula Sports and Entertainment.
Hall will stay through the end of the May “sweeps” rating period before joining Pegula in June. Her new title will be off-field, off-ice multimedia journalist. In that role, she will do features highlighting the Bills’ and Sabres’ community involvement for BuffaloBills.com and Sabres.com.
“It was just a really exciting opportunity that presented itself to me to work in sports and promote things that are happening in our community that people are so excited about and I really couldn’t say no,” Hall said.
Hall said she will miss her colleagues at Channel 4 and connecting with viewers each morning, but as a Williamsville native who was raised a Bills and Sabres fan, she said she is excited to join the growing Pegula empire.
“They’re doing so much to promote not just their teams but this community and that’s what I care about the most,” she said.
She also is looking forward to working under senior producer Michelle Girardi Zumwalt, a former producer for NFL Films who produced ESPN’s 30 for 30 feature film, “Four Falls of Buffalo.”
Channel 4 news director Scott Levy could not be reached to comment, but Hall’s colleagues sent well wishes after she shared the news on social media.
“We will miss you immensely! But what fun you’ll get to have!” News 4 Wake Up anchor Jordan Williams tweeted.
Kelly Pegula, daughter of Pegula Sports and Entertainment president and CEO Kim Pegula, welcomed Hall to her family’s company on her personal Twitter account.
“So happy to have you join the team,” the official Pegula Sports and Entertainment Twitter account tweeted.
The official Buffalo Bills Twitter account tweeted at Hall, “Welcome to the family.” She responded with an animated image of a woman blowing kisses and the words, “feeling the love.”
Hall is a traffic and feature reporter on Channel 4’s morning program “Wake Up.” She is also an in-game host for the Buffalo Sabres.
The Williamsville North graduate earned a degree in broadcast journalism and political science from Syracuse University in 2010. She started as a news producer for WIVB and WNLO-TV in July that year, before becoming senior producer of “Winging It! Buffalo Style!” in 2011 and becoming the show’s host in 2013. She started as an in-arena host for the Sabres the same year and started on “Wake Up” at the beginning of 2015.
Pegula Sports did not immediately return calls.
