GRANDITS, Frank Joseph

GRANDITS - Frank Joseph Was born Franz Josef on January 12. 1917 on Emslie St. in Buffalo, N.Y. His parents, Florian and Agnes (Stoisits) Grandits were immigrants from Stinatz, Austria, a Croatian Village in the Burgenland region. He was raised along with his seven brothers and sisters, Bill, John, Anna, Agnes, Peter, Florian and Bernice on Monroe. St on Buffalo's Eastside, and was educated at St. Anne's parish, where the family were members. At age 17, he got a job working at G.L.F. (Agway), where he became a millwright and worked until retirement. In 1941 he married Evalyn Lawson. In 1944 he was drafted into the service and spent most of his tour of duty as an M.P. at the Nuremburg trials. After he returned from the service, the couple bought a house on Kermit Ave in St. Gerard's Parish, where they raised their children: Marianne, Judith and Frank. He found his greatest pleasure at his "cabin" in Steamburg, N.Y., which he built with his brothers, in-laws, and friends; working in his vegetable garden; puttering in his basement; fishing in Lake Erie; playing pinochle at his seniors' club, and watching his beloved Yankees. He passed at age 99 in his home on April 6. His children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews survive him. He was loved and will be greatly missed.
