'Rock a Mile' concert takes a stand against violence

Want to take a stand against sexual and domestic violence by enjoying some live music? “Rock a Mile” will allow Buffalonians to do just that in a benefit show at 8:30 p.m. April 16 in the Lockhouse Distillery & Bar (41 Columbia St.). The concert will feature music by Mallwalkers, Basement Rat, the Patterns, Dead Lounge and A Potters Field.

“Rock a Mile” serves as a kick-off to the “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” event, which is organized by Crisis Services and encourages men to literally walk a mile in women’s shoes – high heels, to be exact – to raise awareness about domestic violence and rally the community to take action to prevent it. This year, it is scheduled for April 24.

All the money raised at “Rock a Mile” will be donated to the Crisis Services Advocate Program, which provides free, confidential and 24/7 support for survivors of sexual and domestic violence.

Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $10 at the door ($7 for any guy that shows up in heels). Visit the “Rock a Mile” Facebook event page.
