LOCKPORT – Niagara County prosecutors asked for DNA samples Thursday from identical twins accused of a Niagara Falls murder.
Deon K. McTyere and Keon D. McTyere, 22, are accused of fatally shooting Fajri J. Hilson, 31, as the victim sat in a parked car outside Max’s Lounge on Highland Avenue in the Falls about 1:45 a.m. Aug. 22. That bar is owned by the twins’ father.
Police said Hilson was shot a total of 10 times by two assailants firing from opposite sides of the car. After the shooters fled, a friend of Hilson drove him to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center in the same car in which he was shot, but his life could not be saved.
Defense attorneys Andrew C. LoTempio, for Deon, and David J. Mansour, for Keon, were given time to file objections to the request for a DNA swab from the insides of the brothers’ mouths. County Judge Sara Sheldon said she will rule on the request after arguments set for April 29.
Assistant District Attorney Claudette S. Caldwell said the defense attorneys have been given reports on fingerprints found on the car as well as a 3-D scan of the vehicle.
