Another Sonic Drive-In?
The popular fast-food restaurant with food servers on roller skates is looking for its second location in Western New York.
Local franchisee Kevin DiPirro – who opened the first area Sonic in Cheektowaga in November – has been scouting properties “everywhere” in the region looking for a place to put his second Sonic restaurant. Though he hasn’t ruled any places out, he is particularly focusing on Amherst and North Buffalo.
“I would love to be near the university,” DiPirro said.
The challenge, though, is finding enough land on which to locate. Because the Sonic concept incorporates drive-up stalls, the restaurant requires more space than the average fast-food restaurant. Building plans call for roughly an acre of land per location.
DiPirro plans to open eight Sonic locations in Western New York.
