BATAVIA – Genesee Community College will be celebrating its 50th anniversary with two events this month, “Founding Day” on April 15 and the Student Success Center groundbreaking on April 28.
This Friday’s activity, starting at 11 a.m., marks the exact date that the State University of New York officially approved Genesee County’s application to sponsor a two-year college.
The public is invited to the William W. Stuart Forum for a cake-cutting ceremony and to view a historical photo presentation that will run continuously until 2 p.m. In addition, answers to the question, “What I found at GCC,” will be included in a planned time capsule, and the college will release its 50th anniversary blue-and-gold logo with the insignia – “The True-Blue Past – Our Golden Future.”
The April 28 groundbreaking ceremony is set for 4 p.m. The college is embarking on a $21 million project to build a Student Success Center and Event Center.
