Ted Cruz will bring his Republican presidential campaign to the University at Buffalo’s North Campus on Thursday for a town hall meeting to be rebroadcast at 8 p.m. that night on MSNBC.
MSNBC said the event will be tape recorded at noon in the Katharine Cornell Theatre in Capen Hall, and will be hosted by Chuck Todd, moderator of NBC’s “Meet the Press.”
Russ Gugino, a Cruz volunteer in Buffalo, said he believes the event is slated for 11 a.m., but is urging those wishing to attend to arrive early.
Gugino said the venue holds 350 to 400 people. For many years, the same theater hosted Mark Russell, the political satirist and Buffalo native, nationally televised specials on PBS.
The Texas senator’s stop in Western New York had initially been slated for Friday.
After the local event, Cruz is expected to fly to New York City for the state GOP dinner at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Manhattan, before resuming an upstate swing Friday in Rochester, the Syracuse suburb of Clay, and Binghamton, Gugino said.
