Man charged with trying to drive away from Grand Island McDonald’s with no rear wheel

A Buffalo man faces drunken driving charges after he tried to drive away from a Grand Island McDonald’s early Sunday morning with no rear wheel on his vehicle.

At about 2:45 a.m., an Erie County Sheriff’s deputy found Jamie Kraft sitting in the driver’s seat with the engine running and the vehicle resting on its right rear brake rotor outside the Grand Island Boulevard restaurant.

Kraft, 30, failed the first six field sobriety tests and then refused additional tests, the sheriff’s office said. He was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated for having a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.18 percent, or more than twice the legal limit of 0.08 percent.

There were scrape marks throughout the parking lot that ended where Kraft’s vehicle stopped, the sheriff’s office said.
