James M. McCarriagher of Amherst, service manager at Johnson Controls in Amherst, died Thursday in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital. He was 62.
He spent most of his career at Honeywell before joining Johnson Controls in 2006. Throughout his career with both companies, Mr. McCarriagher worked on a number of projects that centered on improving the infrastructure, safety and quality of life for citizens of Buffalo.
He was active in several charitable organizations, including the Buffalo Public Schools’ Adopt a Family Program, where he helped deliver meals and set up the homes for family get-togethers. He also volunteered for the American Cancer Society’s Cuisine for a Cure event.
He was a member of Temple Beth Zion for 35 years.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Robin; a daughter, Marissa; a son, Grant; and two brothers, Kevin and Patrick.
Services were held Sunday in Amherst Memorial Chapel, 281 Dodge Road, Getzville.
