BLISS – The Wyoming County sheriff’s office charged a husband and wife following a domestic violence incident, which was reported on Pearl Street in the hamlet of Bliss at 5:49 p.m. Saturday.
On Saturday, John C, Townley, 40, had reportedly damaged a cell phone to keep others from calling the police. He then allegedly fled from the scene in a vehicle, intoxicated. Deputies said Townley does not have a valid driver’s license and has multiple suspensions and revocations. A felony warrant was issued for his arrest.
On Sunday, deputies returned to the Pearl Street residence and John Townley’s wife, Patricia A. Townley, 39, of the same address, told deputies he was not in the house. A search found her husband hiding behind a sofa.
John Townley was charged with third and fourth-degree criminal mischief, and second and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation. He was arraigned in the Town of Warsaw Court and held without bail in Wyoming County Jail because of his three prior felony convictions. A return court date in the Town of Eagle was set for Friday.
His wife was charged with hindering prosecution and was issued an appearance ticket for May 2 in the Town of Eagle Court.
