Pavilion PTO to have fundraiser to replace stolen funds

PAVILION – Pavilion Central School’s Parent Teacher Organization is looking to replace money that disappeared from its coffers under a previous treasurer.

A Pavilion woman was charged last year with stealing about $40,406 from the group by writing checks to herself over a two-year period.

“Now our PTO is broke, and events, programs and other special things that the PTO pays for are being put on hold until the organization can recover financially,” said Jesse Coots, who is organizing the Small Town Art Show and Sale.

The event will take place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. May 14 at BW’s Country Club Banquet Facility, 11070 Perry Road. The show will feature art donated by local artists and Pavilion students. There will be artwork priced to sell, as well as silent and live auctions.

A Facebook page has been established to help promote the event and show some of the works that will be available.
