Suspicious behavior leads to a drug possession arrest in Niagara Falls

NIAGARA FALLS — Police observed what appeared to be a drug buy inside a vehicle early Wednesday and their suspicions turned into an arrest.

Lecheay A. Renford, 24, no permanent address, was charged at 12:30 a.m. on the 2600 block of Niagara Street, with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, as well as consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle after an open bottle of liquor was found in the car.

Police noticed the odor of marijuana when they questioned Renford and found him in possession of a bag of marijuana and a digital scale. He was also found with two pills in his pocket, a controlled substance for which he did not have a valid prescription.
