South Buffalo man pleads guilty to sex charges

A South Buffalo pedophile who was known to frequent Cazenovia Park admitted in State Supreme Court Wednesday morning to having illegal sexual conduct with a 12-year-old.

Dmitri Cunningham, 19, pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree attempted criminal sexual act before Justice Penny M. Wolfgang in connection with an incident in August.

Cunningham, of Duerstein Street, has been jailed since he was arrested Dec. 10. He has a prior conviction for attempted assault arising from another incident in Cazenovia Park.

Cunningham faces a maximum of 15 years in prison when he returns to court May 16 for sentencing. He also will be a registered sex offender.

Assistant District Attorney Bethany A. Solek prosecuted the case and Buffalo Police detective Valerie Stover-Kelly led the investigation.
