Classic rockers ZZ Top and Gregg Allman will join forces on Aug. 23 for a performance at Darien Lake Performing Arts (9993 Alleghany Road, Darien Center).
After forming nearly 50 years ago in Houston, Texas, the facially clad trio has not slowed down. The group's most recent record "La Futura," its 15th studio album, dropped back in 2012, and since then, ZZ Top has continued to spend much of its time on road, including a string of dates with Jeff Beck in 2015.
Opening for ZZ Top will be founding Allman Brothers Band member Gregg Allman. The long-time guitarist, who was named one of rock music's best vocalists on Rolling Stone's list of the "100 Greatest Singers of All Time," is touring in support of his live album/DVD "Back to Macon, GA," a 2014 homecoming recording at the Grand Opera House in Allman's native Georgia filmed just months before the Allman Brothers Band announced its farewell.
Tickets will go on sale for $39.50 to $79.50 (pavillion seating only) at 10 a.m. April 8 (box office, LiveNation, Ticketmaster or charge by phone at 1-800-745-3000).
