BERNER, Guy Pershing
BERNER - Guy Pershing 1918-2016
Born in Buffalo, NY. Lived in Snyder and Grandview Bay in Angola, NY. He graduated from Duke University where he was on the Duke golf team and was awarded a Phi Beta Kappa key. Received his MBA from Harvard Business School and was a Chartered Financial Analyst. He served in the U.S. Navy, retiring as a Commander. His career encompassed working for RCA in New Jersey; owning two hardware stores in Buffalo; for ten years he served as a Vice President of The Niagara Share Corporation and then became an independent investment advisor. He lectured in Finance at the SUNY at Buffalo and Canisius College, where he was on their Board of Regents. He served as a Trustee at Goldome Bank in Buffalo. He was a scratch golfer at Wanakah Country Club. He spent winters in Venice and Sarasota, FL, and was active in the Plantation Community Foundation. He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Marilyn Upp Berner; four children, Guy Gary Berner (Judy), Karen Little (Bennett), Janet Dewart Beurskens (Frank) and Laurel Harvey (George); 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to a charity of your choice.
