Here are two electronic dance music shows for the week.
Datsik, 8 p.m. April 7 in Town Ballroom (681 Main St.)
Datsik, a native of British Columbia, has been a heavy hitter in the dubstep scene since 2007. After becoming good friends and doing some collaborative work with fellow producer Excision, they began releasing tracks together in 2009 under Excision’s label Rottun Records.
In 2012 Datsik established his own label, Firepower Records, signing various bass and dubstep artists. Support will come from San Diego-based producer Ookay as well as Drezo, a producer and DJ based out of Los Angeles. Ookay started developing himself in the electronic scene in 2013 and has become known for developing himself in the trap realm, an electronic sub-genre that spins off of traditional Southern hip-hop.
Drezo is another new face who came into the scene in 2012 and has been putting out progressive house music ever since.
This show will be hosted by MNM Presents and will be for ages 18 and older. Tickets are $27.50 to $30 and may be purchased online or at the door. See townballroom.com.
DEEPspace, 10 p.m. April 8 in Underground Nightclub (274 Delaware Ave.)
The #DEEP party series will return to the Underground Nightclub for another grooving evening, this time with a galactic space vibe. Local duo Mario Fanone and Sherri Miller comprise ABCDJ and will be doing a live performance.
The event is presented by SHElives, a local queer collective, and will be hosted by Max Darling and Vidalia May. The night will include performances by Cat McCarthy (Sinclair), Fifi Laflea, Angela Christina Lopez (Another Lopez), Lucy Jay (Juicy Lucy), Seth Girod and TK Robinson (Boomsheeqa).
