BATAVIA – The Batavia Cemetery Association will conduct a Victorian home tour from 1 to 5 p.m. on May 15 to raise funds for the upkeep and restoration of the historic site on Harvester Avenue.
“We raised over $3,000 last year, and we’re looking for a great turnout to help us complete our current project – replacing the stained glass window on the mausoleum that was broken out about 20 years ago,” said Sharon Burkel, cemetery association president.
Burkel said participants will be able to visit eight to 10 homes in the Victorian style in the city. The tour will begin at the cemetery at 12:30 p.m.
Tickets are $25 per person, and can be purchased online at bataviacemetery.com or at Pollyanna and Dot and the Hidden Door stores at 202 East Main St. after April 16. Advance purchase is recommended.
The cemetery was founded in 1823 and was listed on the State and National Registers of Historic Places in 2002.
