Taste of Education, set for April 5, offers more than your average fundraising dinner. For $25, attendees get dinner and a show.
Squads of students from local culinary high school programs will offer food from banquet hall stations, united by this year’s theme, “Pacific Rim.”
The team from Carrier Educational Center in Angola will offer a dish using fish from its aquaculture project, and along with lettuce and microgreens. A team from Hewes Educational Center in Ashville is making chocolate from scratch. Squads from Sanborn and Medina BOCES will offer dishes as well.
An Iron-Chef-like cooking competition pitting professional chefs against each other will also lend drama to the evening.
The event, organized by the Western New York Chapter of the New York State Restaurant Association, raises money to send promising local culinary students to ProStart, national skills competitions where they can hone their skills.
The event is 6 to 9 p.m. April 5 at Salvatore’s Italian Gardens (6461 Transit Road, Depew). Cash bar. Tickets are $25, available here.
