KINDRED, Marilyn Phillips
KINDRED - Marilyn Phillips Age 91, passed away April 1, 2016. She was born February 7, 1925 to Edward Schell and Leta Hazard Schell. Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Barbara (Phillips) Padula, her son Donald R. Phillips, grandchildren Shelly (Kuczala) Mitchell, Alex Kuczala, Brian Phillips, Amy (Phillips) Ramirez, and great-grandchildren Dominic Mitchell, Sophia Phillips, Rebecca Ramirez, and Gabriella Ramirez. Preceding her in death were her son Richard Phillips, parents Edward and Leta Schell, her brother Theodore Schell, her husband of 31 years Robert Phillips, her husband of 31 years William Kindred, and her sister Velma( Schell)l Groell. Marilyn was born and raised in Buffalo, NY. She and Robert were married during World War II. After the war, they raised their children while moving around to various cities as Robert got promoted working for the Social Security Administration. They finally settled in Tonawanda, NY where they lived for 17 years. Marilyn got her GED from Kenmore East High School and then attended the University of Buffalo where she received her Master Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. She worked for the New York State Commission for the Blind for 10 years. In her retirement she enjoyed horseback riding and playing tennis with her second husband William. She also enjoyed traveling, visiting France, Egypt, the Soviet Union, Italy, Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico and California several times. She and Bill spent happy vacations at Blue Mountain Lake in the Adirondacks. She was a member of the Sierra Club and Center of Inquiry. The family will receive friends and family Wednesday, April 6 from 2-4 PM at Canterbury Woods, 705 Renaissance Dr., Williamsville, NY 14221. Memorials may be made to your favorite charity.
