An Anchor Bar franchise is planned for the former Fuddruckers building at the corner of Maple and Sweet Home roads in Amherst. The 250-seat restaurant will be the largest Anchor Bar restaurant so far, said Mark Dempsey, Anchor Bar vice president.
The franchisees “hope to open by mid-June to July, something in that range,” if all goes as planned, Dempsey said.
It would be the fifth Anchor Bar location in the area, joining Transit Road, Buffalo-Niagara International Airport, Darien Lake, and the original, at 1047 Main St. There are also Anchor Bar outlets in Hamilton and Burlington, Ont.
The building, 4300 Maple Road, was most recently Honey’s. The operators – Minh Tran, Tom Tran and Jim Kaczmarek, already run 99 Fast Food, the popular Vietnamese restaurant at 3396 Bailey Ave., Minh Tran said.
The restaurant, which is nearly 8,000 square feet, will offer a banquet room, and a patio for customers to enjoy in good weather, besides a dining room and bar, Tran said.
Honey’s restaurant closed at that site in February.
