Newfane man hit with slew of charges after being spotted driving with flat tire

TOWN OF LOCKPORT – A Newfane man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after sheriff’s deputies spotted him driving on the shoulder of Sunset Drive, the left rear tire of his car flattened to the rim and the license plate having been switched from another vehicle.

Deputies said they were looking for John N. Franjoine, 29, of Chestnut Road, in connection with an earlier leaving-the-scene accident in the city of Lockport. They said Franjoine’s vehicle had heavy collision damage when they stopped him around 3:30 p.m. Lockport police arrived and issued Franjoine several traffic tickets in connection with the earlier crash on the Lockport Bypass near State Street, but police were not done with him yet.

Deputies said Franjoine appeared intoxicated and was acting aggressively. He was determined to be under the influence of marijuana and possibly another drug, and was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, unsafe tires, no registration or insurance, no license plate and driving on the shoulder of the road.
