Gerald L. Fuglewicz, a Vietnam veteran and retired machinist at the General Motors plant on East Delavan Avenue, died Thursday at his home in Marilla. He was 68.
Born in Buffalo, he was a graduate of Depew High School and attended Bryant & Stratton Business School. Mr. Fuglewicz began work as a machinist at General Motors in 1965. He later served in the Army from 1967 to 1969 in Korea during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he returned to the General Motors plant to work until his retirement in 2001.
He was a past commander of Buddy Knaus AMVETS Post 14 in Depew and the Elma Conservation Club. He was a train enthusiast, avid hunter, fisherman, gardener and car enthusiast.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, the former Margaret “Peggy” Solly; two daughters, Jennifer Cappello and Jill Siepierski; a son, Jeffrey; two brothers, Richard and David; and five grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in Church of the Annunciation, 7580 Clinton St., Elma.
