Americans need to elect new leaders in November
There will be a presidential election on Nov. 8. Some U.S. Senate seats and all seats in the House of Representatives will be voted on, too.
Both the House and the Senate are now controlled by Republicans. Our country has many needs. To address these issues, laws must be passed by Congress to go into effect. But the Republicans do not want to pass laws that would benefit everyone, and they blame President Obama for all unsolved national problems.
Mitch McConnell, the Senate majority leader, has opposed closing the corporate welfare loopholes that allow companies to move their headquarters out of the country and hire foreign workers and avoid paying taxes.
The Republicans also will not allow a vote to replace a Supreme Court justice.
The Republicans look down on some people who are not like themselves and do not want changes.
The Democrats look to the future, embrace diversity, the hard work of everyone and want to eliminate income inequality by raising wages.
If U.S. citizens want our country to improve, we all must vote.
