Carrier Coach to lay off 93 people in Hamburg

Nearly 100 transportation employees will be out of a job this summer.

Carrier Coach will lay off 93 employees when it closes its Hamburg location during the last week of June, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification filed with the state labor department.

The company acquired the Hamburg location from a franchise of the Landstar trucking firm in 2010.

Carrier provides school bus and wheelchair transportation services for customers including school systems and county government. It has locations in Hamburg, Lancaster, Olean and Celeron.

The company, which has been in business for more than 40 years, could not immediately be reached for comment.
