LOCKPORT – An arrest warrant was issued Thursday for a man indicted in connection with a Jan. 25 Niagara Falls shooting.
Niagara County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III issued the warrant after Donald Dolson, 22, formerly of Niagara Street in the Falls, failed to attend his scheduled arraignment.
Assistant District Attorney Claudette S. Caldwell said Dolson is charged with first-degree assault and attempted first-degree robbery. The victim was shot in the arm during a robbery attempt on a Niagara Falls street, Caldwell said.
Defense attorney Charles F. Pitarresi said he only had been hired to represent Dolson in City Court, but when he heard of the indictment, he phoned Dolson Sunday and told him of the County Court date. He said Dolson had left the area Saturday, going to Georgia to attend a funeral and visit family. He argued that Dolson had left before being told of Thursday’s court date, but Murphy decided to issue the bench warrant.
