NIOGA libraries unveil a plan to encourage young adults to take advantage of their local libraries

LOCKPORT — Libraries have gone digital and a kick off event was held Wednesday by the NIOGA Library System to announce a new campaign aimed at challenging the dated perception of libraries.

NIOGA is a collection of 21 libraries in Niagara, Orleans and Genesee counties.

Membership in a library gives users access to services that range from genealogy databases to interactive learning language programs as well as digital television, books, magazines and music streaming.

The campaign, which will officially launch on April 11, will showcase the new ventures available to library patrons. It will also inform young adults and residents of all ages of the many free resources available to people who have library cards.

Local library services can be accessed from anywhere using a smart phone, mobile device or home computer.

The campaign will encourage members to take advantage of services at the library for a chance to win prizes.
