Young prospect Rowdy Tellez drove in three runs and right-hander Casey Lawrence pitched five shutout innings in the Buffalo Bisons’ 9-2 spring training victory over the Indianapolis Indians on Monday in Dunedin, Fla.
First baseman Tellez, 21, considered the Toronto Blue Jays organization’s No. 8 prospect, went 2 for 2 with a triple and a home run. Lawrence struck out five, allowed four hits and a walk. Ben Rowen and John Stillson each pitched shutout relief for the Bisdons, who have won four of their last five spring exhibitions to even their record at 5-5. The Bisons have two Florida games left before heading north. They will opening the season with a seven-game road trip, starting April 7 in Pawtucket. The home opener will be Thursday, April 14 against Rochester.
The Bisons will face the Lehigh Valley IronPigs at 1 p.m. on Tuesday in Dunedin.
