Parents in the Maryvale Union Free School District can now register for the lottery for the district’s free half-day pre-kindergarten program.
Interested parents of a child who will be 4 years old as of Dec. 1, 2016, should contact registrar Elaine Cannon at 631-7460 before May 18. To be eligible for the lottery, the child must be registered in the district.
The lottery will be held on May 18 in the district office.
Maryvale uses state and local funds to pay for the program, which provides seven free half-day classes per day for 4-year-olds. There are three full-time preschool teachers at Maryvale Primary School providing comprehensive educational program for Maryvale children, as well as a class located in a community organization for children who need daycare for the remaining part of the day.
