As many Christians around the world prepare to celebrate Easter on Sunday, the faithful in Western New York continue to mark the last few days of Holy Week.
Buffalo Bishop Richard J. Malone presided over readings and prayers in St. Joseph Cathedral downtown on Friday as part of the Good Friday observance.
Holy Week, one of the most important times of the year in the Christian faith, began last Sunday with the observance of Palm Sunday.
Here’s the schedule of activities this weekend at St. Joseph Cathedral, 50 Franklin St.:
• 7:30 a.m. Saturday – Readings and morning prayer
• 8 p.m. Saturday – Easter Vigil
• 8 a.m. Sunday – Mass for Easter Day
• 10:30 a.m. Sunday – Solemn Mass for Easter
