Luminina, operating as Hope Chest, announced this week that the Fifth annual Hope Chest Buffalo Niagara Dragon Boat Festival will take place June 18 in a new venue, Buffalo RiverWorks.
Registration is open and limited to 80 teams that will raise money for the nonprofit agency that offers free exercise and nutrition classes, emotional support, and paddling training for breast cancer survivors.
Organizers have moved the event to the Buffalo waterfront from Lake Lasalle at the University at Buffalo North Campus in Amherst. Riverworks has a 700-foot dock along the Buffalo that will lend itself to good race viewing and vendor space for spectators and team members, Luminina officials said. Spectators may watch free.
Teams from across North America, many of them including breast cancer survivors, are expected to compete in the paddle competition. To register or help sponsor the festival, visit hopechestbuffalo.org or email Susan Gately at email@example.com.
