A City of Tonawanda man whose driver’s license was revoked two years ago for refusing an alcohol screening faces drunken driving and drug possession charges after a traffic stop early Saturday morning.
James A. Wheeler, 34, was pulled over at about 4:35 a.m. Saturday on Main Street in the City of Tonawanda, police said.
City of Tonawanda police said they found cocaine in Wheeler’s pocket, the vehicle’s center console and glove box and also two jars of marijuana in the center console. Two sandwich bags of marijuana were also found behind a fake radio faceplate on the dashboard, police said.
Wheeler refused a breath test and was charged with first- and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and driving while intoxicated, police said. He was also ticketed for making an unsafe turn and failing to keep right. He was held on $250 bail.
A passenger in the vehicle, Joseph L. Wagner, 29, of North Tonawanda, also was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and marijuana possession.
