Boston University: Junior Maddie Elia (Nichols) had a goal and two assists in the Terriers’ 6-1 victory over Vermont in the Hockey East quarterfinals. Boston University advanced to the final before falling to Boston College. In 39 games, Elia has produced 15 goals and 29 points.
Buffalo State: Six athletes – three males and three females – will represent the Bengals at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championship Friday and Saturday at Grinnell College in Iowa. On the women’s side, senior Jazlyn Porter (Niagara Falls) qualified 10th in the long jump and 14th in the 400 meters, junior Niasha Houple qualified second in the long jump and senior Sasa Vann qualified 12th in the 400 meters. Among men, senior Cory Cox is seeded sixth in the long jump, senior Benjamin Zeike qualified ninth in the triple jump and sophomore Jamie Mullings qualified 15th in the high jump. … Senior forward Ryan Salkeld has signed a standard players contract with the Norfolk Admirals of the East Coast Hockey League. Salkeld played four seasons with the Bengals with career totals of 92 games, 34 goals, 39 assists and 73 points. Salkeld registered an assist in his pro debut Sunday, a 3-2 loss to Reading. … In women’s lacrosse, sophomore Alanna Herne (Tonawanda) was named SUNYAC offensive player of the week after totaling 11 goals and 10 assists in the opening three games.
D’Youville: Senior Alexis Smith of Hamburg and junior Jean-Ann Korona were named third-team all-Allegheny Mountain Athletic Conference. Smith, a 1,000-point career scorer, averaged 12.2 points and 5.3 rebounds. Korona averaged 10.6 points and 8 boards.
Navy: Freshman Carlee Conway (Sacred Heart) recently was named the Patriot League female tennis player of the week. She is on a 13-match winning streak in singles, where she is 15-3 overall. Conway was ranked the co-No. 1 among WNY women two years ago.
